OKAY!! It's time for the annual Faire writeup!! The Crown Province of Ostgardr is invited to participate in the annual Huntington Renaissance Faire at the Unitarian Fellowship in Huntington, Long Island. The fair generally starts at 10 and goes until 6pm on Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend (this year it's May 26 and 27) The fair is is open to the public and we play a small but important part by providing demos and color, as well as fighting (and if we have a marshall and interested people:sometimes we have fencing). The annual Ostgardr Champions Tourney will be held on Saturday. The battle for the Viceroys Jewels will be held on Sunday. A chance for pickups and general smoozing with the public is always available and encouraged. All fighters and artisans will be most heartily welcomed. Those who plan to attend as performers (fighters, fencers, artisans) and helpers can get into the Faire without paying the usual entrance fee, but you have to be there about an hour before the official opening time. Those wishing to dwell under the great green and white tent of Ostgardr are asked to provide a demo for the public. We often have weaving, heraldry, cooking, embroidery, and calligraphy. Other ideas include arrow making and music. All scadians are reminded that they represent the SCA and are encouraged to act in an approriate manner while dealing with the fair-goers. Those who plan to stay overnight are asked to remove their tents at no later than 8:30 AM on Sunday morning and register with me before that evening. If you wish further information or wish to volunteer your talents, please contact Andrea MacIntyre at deewolff@aol.com, or call me at 845-526-3614.
