Join us under the apple trees on Saturday and Sunday morning for a pleasant weekend of fighting, archery, and crafts demonstrations. Enter the County Fair contests for jelly-making, cooking, baking, needlework, gardening, and animal husbandry. There are also artwork contests, flower arranging, various craftspeople selling stuff, and other accoutrements of a typical county fair. And an old-fashioned farmhouse, with eighteenth century blacksmithing, cooking, spinning, and weaving demonstrations going on. For children and interested adults, there's a petting zoo.
It's a pleasant weekend demo where Ostgardr shows what we're made of and what we have to offer. The more people we have, the more we can demonstrate. Equipment usually can be left overnight if you plan to spend both days there.
For more information, please contact the Vicereine (Debby Krevor). For information on the Fair contests or for directions by public transportation, please contact Queens Farms directly at (718) 347-FARM (3276).
To get there from either the LIE or the Northern State, go to Little Neck Parkway and head south. The farm is on your right, just a few blocks south of the Grand Central Parkway.
If you want to get in free, be sure to arrive before 11 AM. If you are transporting a lot of equipment, please plan to arrive between 8:00 and 9:30 a.m. and leave around 5:00 p.m. as the farm will not permit cars on the field once the fair has started, and parking is quite a distance away from the fairgrounds.
