St. Valentine's Revel

Hicksville, NY (Lions End)

Feb. 20, 1999

Vive la France! The Crown Province of Ostgardr invites all good gentles in search of a day of amour to join us in France for the Sixth Annual Valentine's Day Revel. There will be a bardic competition during the feast with prizes for best story, song and poem, preferably with a French theme. We will have the traditional Nonce Lovers game and the ever-popular brewing competition in which all entries must be red or pink. The categories are cordials, meads, wines and beers. Mouche will once again make her famous Valentine raffle baskets with a French twist.

We are graced with the brilliant cooking skills of Lord ___ and Lady ___. Please call them at ___ before 10 PM with menu questions. If you have dietary restrictions, please inform the chefs well in advance so they may accomodate your needs. The feast is stricly limited to 72 gentles, plus off-board space for 24.

The site for this most romantic event is the Manettobrook Masonic Lodge, 18 West Nicholai St, Hicksville, NY 11801. The damp site opens at 11 AM and closes around 11 PM. Enclosed flames only. The site is not terribly friendly for the "physically challenged", as there is a long set of stairs down to the hall. If you need a children's area, please call the autocrats so they can work with you. Please volunteer for break-down, even if only briefly.

On-board fees are $16, off-board $8, and out-board $4. Children 12 and under are half price, babes in arms are free. The only reservation is a paid reservation. Make checks payable to "SCA, Inc. -- Ostgardr" and enclose a SASE if you would like a confirmation and/or rules for the Nonce Lovers Game. Mail reservations to co-autocrat Lady Elwisia Mouche de Voujeaucourt (Michelle Bouillianne, 29 Barnum Ave, Plainview, NY 11803-6005, 516-931-3006).

Merchants are invited, at $5 per table; call co-autocrat Sean de Londres (John Cnapich) at 718-762-4645.
