The Cloisters

The Cloisters, a building in Manhattan belonging to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and constructed from pieces of medieval churches, monasteries, etc., is the site of at least two musical series.

Concerts at the Cloisters
Most concerts take place on Sundays at 1:00 and 3:00 PM. Prices $25-40 include same-day admission to the Cloisters Museum (and the Metropolitan Museum of Art). All performances take place in the 12th-century Fuentidueña Chapel, which is fairly small, so reservations by mail or telephone are recommended. Polyhymnia

A mostly-vocal group, ensemble in residence at St. Ignatius of Antioch (not to be confused with St. Ignatius Loyola, below), at West End Avenue and 87th Street.

Sacred Music in a Sacred Space

A series of concerts, not strictly early, at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola 980 Park Avenue (at 84th Street), New York, NY 10028. For concert information, call 212-288-2520.

The New York Early Music Series

This is a concert series including baroque, Renaissance, and medieval concerts.
Tickets are $12.00, $8.00 for students, seniors, and members of various early music associations. Other discounts are available if you buy tickets to more than one concert at a time; see their web page or call 212-730-1316 for more information.

Early-music ensemble in residence at St. Bartholomew's Church. Joel Frederiksen, director; devoted to the performance of early music, particularly late Renaissance and early Baroque.

New York's Ensemble for Early Music

Frederick Renz's group, resident artists at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, have been performing early music and drama for 25 years. Concerts generally run $25 at the door, less by subscription; the dramatic performances (e.g. medieval passion plays) are a few dollars more.
