Take the Throgs Neck or Whitestone Bridge to the
New England Throughway (I-95) northbound to Exit 16, "Cedar Street/North
Avenue/New Rochelle". Turn
left at the end of the ramp, go one block, turn right under bridge onto Cedar
Street,
***go two blocks, and turn left (between Toyota dealership and
Ramada). Turn left again at bottom of hill, get into right lanes,
and bear right at split in road. You are now on Palmer Avenue.
**Stay in the second right lane, bearing right where Potter Avenue splits off, and proceed along Palmer Avenue until you pass Spencer Drive West on your right. Start watching for driveways on your left. The driveway opposite Spencer Drive East is between 2221 and 2201 Palmer; you can enter this driveway or the next one, on the far side of 2201. If using the former, go to the end of the row, turn left, and the visitor spaces are the last four on your right (on the side opposite the building). If using the latter driveway, make a left at the end of the row, and the 7-8 visitor spaces will be a short distance along on your right. Visitor spaces are marked (badly) in white paint with a V instead of a number; if you park in a numbered space you will be towed.
Cross County Parkway east to Exit 9 (Hutchinson southbound), one exit to * Exit 12 "Lincoln Avenue". At the Yield sign at the top of the ramp, turn right; at the traffic light, turn right onto Lincoln Avenue. Cross over the parkway; you are now in Pelham (mini-mall opposite side left, Mobil station opposite side right). Continue along Lincoln approx. 1 to 1.5 miles to Memorial Highway. Turn right onto memorial Highway, enter traffic circle, and take the second exit from the circle. You will enter another traffic rotary, not circular but deformed. Don't take the exit for North Ave/New England Thruway, but go to the STOP sign, go under the overpass, and see *** above.
From northeast, take I-684 to Hutchinson, then from * above.
From northwest, take Taconic into Sprain Parkway, merge with Bronx River Parkway, and exit to Cross County Parkway eastbound. Follow directions 'From the West' above.
Metro-North from Grand Central to Larchmont station (35-40 minutes, $6.50 peak or $5.00 off-peak). Ride in the last (available) car of the train; when you get off at Larchmont, walk toward the rear of the train along the platform to the end. Go upstairs and come out on Chatsworth Avenue. Turn left onto Chatsworth, and follow a short distance to Palmer Avenue (traffic light). Turn right onto Palmer and walk about 0.5 mile to 2221 Palmer (which will be on your right), the second building past the Acura dealer. Check with Metro-North at Grand Central for fares and schedules.
We are in Apt. 4C; buzz 51 on the intercom panel. When you're buzzed in, come up to 4 (the elevator is right in front of you), and turn left off the elevator. Follow the hallway all the way around; when you make the turn, you will be facing the apartment.
