Brewers Take Note...

An article in the May 4, 1996 Science News reports on the superiority of dark beer over light, at least for dogs with clogged coronaries. Researchers induced platelet clogs (which cause heart attacks and strokes) in 16 dogs, then gave 11 of them Guinness Extra stout and the other 5 Heineken lager. Platelet clogs were somewhat reduced in the Heineken dogs, but disappeared completely in those on Guinness. The catch: the beer was Òdelivered...directly into the stomachsÓ of the dogs, so they didnÕt even get to taste it.
