From the Chronicler First of all, THANK YOU!!! to all the fine folk that helped us to feed the multitudes at the Midsummer Frolic last month. Kamilah, Mori, Brithwen, and Ana came over to help with precooking the weekend before (Mori and Brithwen helped peel pears and make wafers and they weren't even able to attend the event! such dedication!). Kamilah and Brithwen generously loaned us their coolers for transportation and storage at the event, Ann and her husband stepped in and obtained water and charcoal when we needed them, and Gwalchmai and countless others offered to help with cooking on site. I'd love to thank by name the folks that helped clean up the following morning, but, because we had to go home Saturday night and take care of the dogs, I never found out just who those magnanimous souls were. Please be assured that any helper not mentioned herein has our gratitude just as surely as those afore named. Those of you unable to attend the event missed a chance to relax and disport yourselves in a setting remarkably free from modern intrusions. I hope that, if this site is used again next year, more people will be able to attend. After all, how many chances do you have to take the subway to a camping event? Speaking of camping, regional war practices are coming up in the Central and Southern Regions; the Southern Region practice, in particular, promises to be an interesting event. Ostgardrians are encouraged to attend. Of course, we can't forget the Big Event of the camping season: Pennsic. Even as we speak, folk are feverishly preparing for the great pilgrimage to Cooper's Lake. Ostgardrians Henry Kersey, Kamiilah al-Sudanii, and Ieshua Ibn-Eleazar will be teaching or moderating classes at the War. Other folk will doubtless be volunteering at Troll, Heralds' Point, Public Safety, and a myriad other services. Still more will be seen playing fanfares and background music at noble soirees, displaying nimble feet on the dance floor, or singing and storytelling around countless fires. Others will be supporting the Scadian wartime economy by patronizing their favorite merchants. Come do your part! This will be a very emotional Pennsic for the Middle, so let's show our Midrealm friends some support. Take a moment at War for a smile and a chat with The Enemy.... In servitudine, Rufina
