Highlights from the July 18 Commons

Webmaster & Chronicler need stuff to publish: articles & photos on brewing, costuming, fighting, etc; pictures of individuals and/or their arms; Pennsic art and stories.

Historian: Working on an on-line museum of East Kingdom history.

Vicereine: Demo at Queens County Farm Fair (see announcement, this issue).  The barn is finished, and the better a show we put on, the better our chance of getting it for EKU.  Show our best, not our silliest.

Exchequer: We're in good shape, down $97 for printing and mailing the draft bylaws.

Viceroy: Please comment in writing, by Barleycorn, on the draft bylaws.  

Northpass: Rick Wolff has stepped in as Seneschal; he's willing to stay Seneschal, but needs a new Herald.

Whyt Whey: Marian has resigned as Chatelaine, and Luisa has stepped in temporarily; seeking permanent Chatelaine.  Seeking new herald to replace Ben so he can become deputy Knight Marshall.  New Chronicler (see Regnum).  Ana's teaching A&S class, 11 Sept, about Dona Mendez, a remarkable Spanish lady.  Teachers for Useful U, please tell Kamillah by 25 Sept.  Barnes & Noble at 82nd & Broadway wants demo on 10/23; proceeds from that day's book sales to anti-hunger organization.

Seneschal: Barleycorn is not an R.P. so it won't be so crowded.  Lynn Werner running feast.  Reservations to Suzanne Maebert; entertainers contact Dee Wolff.  Agincourt will be 22 Nov, w/Dee Wolff running feast and Mitch Jr. running event.

Other announcements: Watch out for ticks at camping events, and consider wearing a tick collar around your ankle (over socks).  Gilded Pearl event in Lions End, 9/19/98, set in 1630 w/fencing emphasis.  Violetta is involved with "Romeo & Juliet" production; contact her at 718-626-6320 to help.  Ateno: has source for honey in quantity (at least a gallon) at good price.  Mary Eiteuner: the Ft. Hamilton chapel is available fairly easily for meetings; would like to hold demo and/or event on Parade Field.


September Commons

will be at 8:00 PM, September 26, at Jessica McGinnis's home in Lion's End.  Note: this is the fourth Friday rather than the usual third.

Public transit: LIRR to Westbury.  Through tunnel to cemetery, L along RR Ave. to end, turn R, and see *.

Car: Northern State to exit 32 south (Post Ave./Westbury).  Right off ramp, left at first light, and right at 2nd stop sign onto School Street.  (Westbury Middle School is on your left.)  Cross the railroad track.

*Count 3 blocks on left, passing cemetery on right.  Left on Irving.  2nd block, 3rd house on R is 572.  Walk through gate and ring doorbell for basement apartment (not the main house).
