Highlights from the June 20 Commons Webmaster & Chronicler: please give us stuff to publish. The Webmaster particularly wants articles or photo-essays on brewing, costuming, fighting, etc. and pictures of individual Ostgardrians and/or their arms. Historian: Viscount Cai has been volunteered for the position, and is working on an East Kingdom History web site. Archery: An Dubh is holding archery practices in Lions End, which is OK with the latter -- archery sites are hard to find. Provincial archery contest at Barleycorn. Some interest developing in combat archery. Lions End: Mouche gave us 11 yards of green fabric for Provincial tabards. Igraine will be head cook for Lion in Winter (12/13-12/14, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Farmingdale). Lions End will host the next Gilded Pearl event, September 1998. Whyte Whey: getting new Chronicler; in need of fencing marshal. Archers, contact Luisa for practice info. Northpass: Demo at Plainfield Middle School went OK; we're still waiting to be paid for it. Hope to move it to Saturday next year. Northpass Web Page is up now, at http://www.Ęcyburban.com/~chatelaine. Broken Bridge: planning "sit and spin" night; outdoor fighter practice on hold. Herald: Proposed badge for the Order of the Sea Dog has no apparent conflicts. Encourage everyone to make and display banners, and cantons to make and use tabards for their local heralds. Vicereine: glad that people are travelling, esp. fighters. Consider Southern Region War Camp (Easton, PA, at a wet site with a swimming pool and lots of camping) and the Central Region War Camp (in Bowman's Rest). Don't miss the Aethelmearc Coronation, in Syracuse, NY on 20 September: you may never again see a Kingdom created! Still looking for ideas on using Continuing Ed. classes to fill our people in on the non-medieval aspects of their crafts. Bardic: East Kingdom bardic trials will be held in Ostgardr camp at Pennsic. July's bardic-circle themes are War and Pestilence. July Commons will be on July 18 at the Fort Hamilton Chapel, 8:00 PM, hosted by Mary Eiteuner (mfeiteuner@aol.com, 718-921-7149), who's also pushing to get a site on the base for fighter practice, etc. By Subway: take the R train to the end of the line in Brooklyn, walk towards the Verrazano Bridge, turn left on 101st St. into Fort Hamilton; see ** below. By Car from Staten Island: Cross the Verrazano and follow signs for Fort Hamilton. Left from exit ramp (onto 92nd?) Left at 2nd light onto Fort Hamilton Parkway, and see * below.
