Highlights from the Mar. 20 Commons

Lists: Fighters, as current authorizations expire, see Suzanne for new
forms.

Archery: Fletching class: make a dozen arrows for c. $20-30 in
materials.  See Michelle to arrange.

Web: Please submit articles and pictures.  If you are an officer,
please check the Web page to make sure your correct information is
posted.  If you don't give me explicit permission, I won't post it.

Exchequer: We bought lots of woven-wood serving bowls.  Now if only we
had an attractive, practical replacement for the blue plastic
soup-serving bowls....

Viceroy: Remember Crown Tourney in May; TRM are handing out lots of
awards and Gideanus is cooking.

Vicereine: Planning tabard-making parties for April/May; contact if
interested.  TRH accepting nominations for AoA's and polling orders;
send letters, cc'ed to us, by Coronation.  Remember Huntington
Renaissance Faire on Memorial Day Weekend; try to come up with hands-on
demos for children that can be in the printed schedule.

Lions End: Sending out hundreds of "what is the SCA?" letters to
potential sites.  Considering Japanese or Mongol theme event -- Lion in
Winter?

Broken Bridge: We've been asked for a middle-school demo c. 1 PM on a
Wednesday in next two months; contact Ben if interested.

Herald: has new submission forms on paper; will shortly put them on the
Web.

Chatelaine: In search of replacement in office.  About to buy a house
and move out of the Daws' place (which will have a new resident in
September anyway.)

Chronicler: Please submit stuff.  Recent shopping finds: nice 60-in
linen still $4/yard at 38th & 8th; coatweight wool $2-6 at Jo-Mar's;
silver dishes & bowls a few dollars at Pottery Barn.

Calendar: Huntington RenFair 5/23-25; Midsummer 6/20 (conflicts with An
Dubhaigeainn & Landsknecht); Barleycorn 9/12; Queens County Farm Demo
9/19; Lion in Winter 12/12.

Whyt Whey: Midsummer will have archery.  Luisa is harbinger for WW part
of Ostgardr camp at Pennsic.  If looking for rides or riders, call
Luisa.

Seneschal: The offices of Chatelaine, Historian, Knight Marshal, and
Arts & Sciences are now or will soon become vacant; if interested,
please contact Viceroy, Vicereine, Seneschal, or the current
office-holder.

Barleycorn: Paid site deposit; inviting TRM; feast deadline 9/1 so
maybe people will reserve before Pennsic.


April Commons: 4/17, 8:00 PM at Site: 552 Riverside Dr., Riverside Dr.
just south of 125th St.

By Train: take the 1/9 to 125th St.  Get off on west side of Broadway,
walk south to Tiemann Place, thence west to Riverside and south to
552.  *At the building do not go to the main entrance, but go a few
steps further north to the gate.  Do not buzz, you will only make the
super cranky.  Instead wave to attract the attention of those already
inside (there's a window and it will have a sign) and someone will let
you in.

By car: Henry Hudson to 125th street.  Right onto Broadway, right onto
Tiemann, and park if you can. Walk up to Riverside Dr, south to 552,
and see *above.
