Brewing class 10/3, spinning workshop 10/6, garb-fitting 10/13, fighting practice in Prospect Park 10/19, heraldry class 10/20, garb construction 10/27. Chronicler & Webmaster: as usual, please send us stuff: articles, artwork, photos, etc. Vicereine: The Queens County Farm Fair demo went OK, but we'd like more people and better planning next year; the Farm is enthusiastic about educational events like EKU and demos, so let's keep them happy. Since Aethelmearc's secession, there are weird politics going on; keep ears open for rumors, but check them with Katherine & Ian before repeating or acting on them. Mouche: St. Valentine's will be on St. Valentine's day at the Masonic Lodge in Hicksville. Mouche & Sean will run it, with Mark & Nicole cooking. This year's geographic theme is Florence. Cai: Usual first-Monday dance class cancelled for 10/6. Usual last-Thursday heraldry class will occur 10/30 but not in Nov. or Dec. Seahorse Ball will be 1/17 at Ft. Hamilton: teaching dance during day, potluck dessert revel & dance in eve. October Commons will be at the Wolffs' home on 6 West Ave. in Putnam Valley, NY, at 8 PM. By train: call for ride from Cold Spring or Croton-on-Hudson station. By car: Taconic north to second exit mentioning Shrub Oak (not Rte. 132, but Rte. 6). Left at light onto Route 6; 1.5 miles to Mill Street (watch for "Putnam Valley" sign). Right onto Mill and out of Westchester County. One mile to first light, where you're facing the Putnam Valley Historical Society, with Grange on right. Zig-zag left and right around PVHS onto Church Street. Two miles, then right onto Oscawana Lake Road. Pass town hall on left. At Santos store (sells Getty gas), bear left (almost through store parking lot) onto Cedar Road (poorly labeled). Up hill for a block and left onto Mountain View Road. Second right onto West Avenue. First house on right, a short grey house with a red door and unpaved driveway. Park as far up the lawn as you can to make room for others.
